Congratulations to AHES STEM teacher Laurie Witt!
Mrs. Witt is this year's recipient of the Virginia Museum of Natural History Foundation's Thomas Jefferson Award for Outstanding Contributions to Natural Science Education.
Established in 1987, the Jefferson Awards honor individuals and organizations from across the state for outstanding contributions to natural science, natural science education, and conservation. In addition to her continued dedication to her students at AHES, Mrs. Witt has represented MCPS at the local, state, and national level, sharing her expertise with colleagues across the nation. Under her leadership and guidance, Albert Harris Elementary School has been recognized as a Virginia Naturally School by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources for two consecutive years.
We are so lucky to have Mrs. Witt as part of our MCPS family!
